Making Spirits Bright
Event Details
Join the 100+ voices of the Brevard Community Chorus in a delightful concert of carols and Christmas cheer, when they present Making Spirits Bright on the main stage of the King Center for the Performing Arts. Under the baton of Dr. Robert E. Lamb, the Chorus will perform some of the season's most beloved music, including highlights from Handel's enduring oratorio, Messiah. On the second half of the program, the audience will hear Leroy Anderson's famous Christmas Festival, along with a selection of popular carols and holiday songs. Accompanied by select players from the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Chorus will conclude the concert with a sing-along of traditional favorites for all in attendance. General admission tickets to Making Spirits Bright are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and active military, plus applicable fees.
The Brevard Community Chorus is an all-volunteer musical organization serving South and Central Brevard, whose members meet weekly for the purpose of rehearsing and performing the larger works of the choral repertoire. In the spring of 2024, the auditioned Chorus will join forces with the Brevard Chorale and the Brevard Youth Chorus to present Dan Forrest's Jubilate Deo, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Robert E. Lamb is Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities, and Program Manager of the Department of Performing & Visual Arts at Eastern Florida State College. The North Carolina native attended Wake Forest University and later the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Call 321-433-7629 for more information about the Brevard Community Chorus, visit BrevardCommunityChorus.org, or follow them on Facebook.
